Vacation Bible School
Plan now for VBS during the week of June 25-29th, 2012. This summer University Baptist Church, College Park, Berwyn Presbyterian and RPC will combine forces to offer quality free VBS from 9 am to noon at UBC and noon to 3 pm at RPC, Monday-Friday for ages 4-12. Plans for aftercare/camps until 5:00 pm and registration information to follow at www.rivpres.org and www.weareubc.org! We hope this week of a free full day Vacation Bible School will meet the needs of many families who need an all-day activity rather than a half-day VBS. We will offer safe, reliable transportation between UBC and RPC at noon time, and children will eat their bag lunches at RPC.
This year's theme (from Concordia Publishing House) Amazing Desert Journey: Where Jesus Leads Us Home
"The journey begins as Adam and Eve leave the lush oasis and enter a life of sin in the desert. After all, if children don't know we have sin, then they won't know their need for a Savior. From there, children see how Moses led the Israelites on a journey through the desert and Jesus was tempted in the wilderness. The week ends with a joyful celebration of the Resurrection and the heavenly home God has prepared for us. At the center of all teachings is our gracious Savior,, Jesus Christ.
As a bonus, each day's memory verse is a petition from the Lord's Prayer. At the end of the week, children willl have learned the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples! Every day of VBS shows children that even though our earthly lives are consumed by the desert of sin, we can be refreshed by forgiveness through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, the promises of God's Word and the earthly oasis of His Church."
